Photography

My photographic practice uses the body as both subject and material, constructing images through relationships between figures, florals, found objects, architecture, and landscape. Working across analog and digital photography, self-portraiture, performance, and physical interventions into the photographic object, I approach image-making as a form of assemblage.

Bodies are bound, obscured, adorned, reflected, or positioned in relationship to plants and built environments, creating temporary sculptures that exist through the photograph. In some works, the image itself is further transformed through burning, resin, framing, or the incorporation of organic material, extending the photograph beyond a flat surface and into an object.

Across the work, I am interested in transformation, intimacy, memory, ritual, and the ways bodies negotiate their environments. Photography functions as another material within my larger practice—a space where bodies, objects, and landscapes can be rearranged to imagine new relationships between them.
